Amazon Kindle Touch now available internationally

The Amazon Kindle Touch is now available for shipping internationally from the Amazon online store. However, the availability is limited only to the Wi-Fi models with no news on when or if the 3G-capable version will also ship overseas. Users are advised that in addition to its $139 US price plus shipping, overseas import duties and taxes may apply, but they will still enjoy Amazon’s full 12-month warranty.

Somewhat surprisingly, the customers in the UK and Germany are still unable to have Kindle Touch shipped to them at present. Amazon does have local online stores in those countries, however, so it remains likely that they will soon become available to those customers through their local online store.

The Kindle Touch is a multi-touch monochrome e-reader that uses the latest generation of e-ink grayscale displays. It can store up to 3,000 titles and supports text-to-speech, audiobooks and MP3s. It will download books over Wi-Fi in around 60 seconds and includes a an ‘X-Ray’ feature that makes it easy for users to further investigate historical characters or phrases.
