Megaupload founder claims to be victim of police brutality

Megaupload founder Kim Dotcom has accused law enforcement authorities of using excessive force when he was arrested at his New Zealand residence on January 19. Dotcom claims the officers that entered his home were "quite aggressive" and punched him in the face, kicked him and stepped on his hands, according to a 3 News report.

Police argue that Dotcom fled to a safe room and ignored knocks on the door, forcing officers to forcefully enter the home. He is also accused of failing to obey orders to show his hands, while illegal weapons were also found in the room.

Authorities have charged Dotcom with racketeering, conspiring to commit copyright infringement, conspiring to commit money laundering and criminal copyright infringement. His lawyers have been fighting for release on bail, however courts have denied the requests and view the Internet mogul as a flight risk.
