ASUS hopes to be the first to bring out a device running on Android 5.0, Benson Lin, Asus' Corporate Vice President, told TechRadar. Along with embracing the platform, the executive appeared to have inadvertently confirmed the OS' codename, Jelly Bean. ASUS hopes its close relationship with Google will enable it to be among the first to release an update to Android 5.0, which is rumored to come out as early as this fall.

"ASUS is very close to Google, so once they have Android 5.0 I think there will be a high possibility that we will be the first wave to offer the Jelly Bean update," Lin said. ASUS has been the first to update tablets to Android 4.0.

ASUS will soon return to the smartphone market with the Padfone, which can in turn be used to power a tablet, which can attach to a physical keyboard and then turn into a netbook
