Mass Effect 3 release sees 3.5 million units shipped


Having hit retailers in the UK on Friday, and the US earlier in the week, EA has revealed the shipping and opening sales figures for Mass Effect 3

Following the game’s UK release on Friday, March 9th, publisher EA has revealed it has shipped a hefty 3.5 million copies of Mass Effect 3 to global retailers.

Describing the BioWare developed release as “the first pop culture event and the biggest entertainment launch of 2012,” the hype surround the Mass Effect 3 launch has seen global retailers snap up the MMO offering despite the UK’s leading gaming retailers GAME and gamestation not stoking the release.

"We have been truly humbled by the amazing response from fans and critics for Mass Effect 3,” said Dr. Ray Muzyka, co-founder of Mass Effect 3 development company BioWare.

"The game is a gripping, engaging experience where the decisions and choices you make will truly stay with you for the months and years ahead. We are all incredibly proud of Casey Hudson and the teams in Edmonton and Montreal for delivering the best game BioWare has ever made."

Further Mass Effect 3 figures doing the rounds have revealed that the title sold a staggering 890,000 copies during its opening day on sale in the US alone.
