With the first version of the iPad now approaching its second anniversary, Apple has opted to clear out its remaining stock of the 2010 model, or as the official nomenclature goes, "first generation." Buyers can get a refurbished 2010 iPad starting at $299, some $200 off the original price and 25 percent off the former refurbished price before the third-generation iPad was introduced on Wednesday.

Inventory levels for the first-gen iPad wasn't revealed, but the company has priced two 32GB models at $399, regardless of whether they are 3G capable or not, a feature that normally carries a $129 premium. Apple has also reduced prices on refurbished second-generation iPad models, now starting at $349 for the 16GB Wi-Fi model, $449 for the 32GB version, and $479 for the AT&T or Verizon 3G-capable models. The refurbished iPads come with a one-year AppleCare warranty and a new battery, and can run the current version of iOS, v5.1 which was also released on Wednesday.
